I've played the pause game with my boys/friends. I realize it's a very rote and potentially insensitive thing. I've a co-worker by the name of Rod, and we always go "pause" after saying his name.
I mean, sure, it's a slight humor to it but I'm realizing you have to grow up at some point. It astounds me how early kids (and I wasn't exempt) learn how to do this sort of low-level, seemingly harmless homophobia.
